Sex Poetry From the Heart

You don't have to be Shakespeare to pen your partner a sexy poem!

Sex Poetry From the Heart

Get poetically primed for sex this weekend! There are so many different ways to express your desire to your partner and so many different types of poetry to choose from. Take this opportunity to express your love for your partner, whether it’s in the style of the traditional sonnet made famous by the Bard himself or free verse. Will you sample from your favorite genre or create your own style? Either way, it’s the sexy message that counts. Consider the options:

Write your partner a haiku about what sex with him feels like or what you would like him to do to you. Don't have a way with words? Don't worry — even if you can barely write your shopping list, a haiku is about as easy as it gets.

The format goes like this: three lines, with five, seven, and five syllables each. Here's a sample one to get you started:

A soft wet kiss is
Good lips, lingering touch, the
Mouth of one I love

Haiku enthusiasts can get very technical about what is and is not a haiku, but a "sex haiku" is more about the spirit than the rules. Once you get the hang of it, you'll find you can write a whole bunch of them easily. You can even tell a story with multiple haikus.

If haikus aren’t your style, though, you might consider a traditional poetry format. Free-verse poetry is also a wonderful option, especially for beginners, as it is poetry without rules. You can write whatever pops into your head and establish your own rhyming pattern. Try to avoid general rhymes like “love” and “above” and get creative. Go to a site like www.poetry.com, where you can read poetry and get ideas. You can even enter words into their rhyming application, and it will give you back a list of words that rhyme with them.

Most importantly, use your poem to express what makes your partner and your relationship so special. Don’t stick to simple or cliché sentiments. What do you love about your partner — his wit, his kindness, his dimples, his big muscles? What do you desire about him — his touch, his kisses, the smell of his skin, or the curve of his back?

If you are feeling a little stuck for ideas, read some of your favorite poets or listen to your favorite songs and think about the lyrics. Music can be very inspirational, and it can get you thinking on a sensual and poetic level. You can also find inspiration from reading sensual poets such as Pablo Neruda, William Blake, Chase Twichell, or John Keats. As you read, pay attention to the tone and language, and steal some ideas for your own poem. If you are stuck for creative energy, simply copy one of your favorite poems onto a beautiful piece of stationery and give it to your partner.

Get as simple or creative as you'd like and as dirty or sweet too! You might find you are able to tap deep into your own desires and inspire your partner in a way that's uniquely sensual. Sex this weekend may just be pure poetry!
